Banana Value Chain Programme

AHIMSA, is having about 7.60 lakhs members comprising of Farmers Club, Youth Club and SHGs in Tamil Nadu, has envisaged to network Banana growing Farmers of Kanyakumari District, Thirunelveli District, Thoothukudi District, Virudhunagar District and Theni District, through Farmer Producers Organizations (FPOs), for uplifting the farmers by way of “value addition adopting advanced technology” comprising of about 42,000 farmers covering a year of 1,40,000 ac.. In order to help the Banana farmers of this region for achieving the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Vision of “Doubling Farmers’ Income by 2022”, AHIMSA has signed an MoU with APInf of Finland on 28th July 2018 at Kanyakumari, to establish “ Digital Platform based on Open Source Cloud Computing ”. This Digital Platform will be available for “ spinoff ” many Startups of professional Youths of the Districts.

In Phase-I, AHIMSA proposes to establish a Digital Platform for the Banana Growing Farmers through CSR funding, to establish ICT enabled "Banana - Agricultural Commodity Value System". By doing so, farmers are likely to get an attractive price for their commodities. Both ICAR National Research Centre on Banana at Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), and NABARD Regional Office (Chennai) have shown their interests to get associated with this venture. During Phase-II, AHIMSA plans establish a "Technology Centre and Banana Agro Processing Park (Banana, Plantain, By-Product Value Addition and Ethanol and Methane Production from its wastes)".

The ultimate aim is to obtain an average yield of 40 MT per Acre, and AHIMSA intends to concentrate upon the land preparation, rhizomes selection, manuring, watering, pest control measures etc in a very careful manner as well as concentrate on post harvest technology and value addition of banana fruit and banana waste.


  • To make available protected drinking water both in rural and urban areas by conserving the storage of water resources like rain waer harvesting, preserving the lakes by preventing, encroachments and desiltation of tanks etc., is co-ordination with concerned user group.
  • Utilizing the produce from the Agriculture, Technical skill developed among the qualified youth, Bank loan available and the subsidies from the Governments, entrepreneurs will be motivated on the maximum production of the raw materials. This would result in the benefits of employment, fair price for producers, quality products to the consumers for better rate and scope for export.
  • To install Sewage treatment plant in the adjoining areas of metropolitan cities / townships to collect the waste water for the onward treatment to make fit for use in the both Agriculture and Industrial purpose.
  • To create Zero waste plant by collecting municipal solid waste for further treatment with a aim to reduce the pollution for ensuring the clean environmental in the residential areas and protect the diseases. It is also pertinent to mention that there are various other monitory benefits.
  • In the present scenario of life style, it is open to admit that at times, the elders in the family are discarded by their wards and forced to depart from family environment to lead a lonely life outside. In certain cases for inadequate attention towards elders in the day time, the elders seek assistance to take care in the day time. Considering the need of the assistance to Senior Citizens AHIMSA is proposed to create provide assistance for them in both Day care and full time by the geriatric trained persons with adequate infrastructure.
  • GFRG Technology – (GLASS FIBER REINFORCED GYPSUM) in Building Construction panels will be made by Calcined Gypsum, Glass Fibers and Chemicals to make them Load bearing, Waterproof, Fireproof, Corrosion proof, Termite proof, Earthquake resistant, Environmentally friendly and rapidly building wall panels as per the customized requirement. Panels will be precut as per the design of the house so that they need to be just assembled and joined at site. This technology has been accredited by United Nations and World Bank as 100% green building technology, Fire resistant, Earthquake resistant and fully eligible for CDM benefits.
